How You Can Help

Come to our AGM on Saturday 23rd November 2019 in Old Down Hall!

Please come to our Annual General Meeting on 23rd November at 3.00 p.m.  We need people to show an interest and to join our core members who contribute views and opinions on planning developments in the south west of Basingstoke.

Register!!!!!!

The first and most important thing you can do is to show us - and the Council - that you're concerned.  The more local residents we have on our list, the more likely that the Council and the Inspector at the Examination in Public (EiP) will take notice.  It's important that you provide your address details, and especially your email, so we can keep you informed.  Please take care entering your details - follow the instructions on the form carefully.

If you've already 'liked' our Facebook page that's fine.  We need to demonstrate a strong following, with people who are prepared to stand up and be counted.  Make sure you're one of us by registering, including your full address, so we can keep you up to date with what's happening and clearly show the depth of local feeling with impressive - and verifiable - numbers.

Hit the streets

We've ran several major leaflet and poster campaigns last year, but we'll need to distribute more leaflets and hang more posters.  We need help to distribute leaflets - through letterboxes, outside schools, to dog-walkers on Old Down, when you meet friends; wherever and however.  We also need to get posters into prominent places.  Check the website to see what's happening, and contact us by email and we'll be delighted to provide leaflets and/or posters and give guidance on where and how to deliver/post them.

Lend a Hand

We need all the help we can get.  Could you support us at occasional Council meetings (purely as an observer - no need, or opportunity, to speak); could you help maintain our website or help us run our social media campaign; write copy for local publications; write emails to councillors when the time comes; provide specialist expertise - anything that could help?  If so, please let us know - all volunteers are extremely welcome!

Become a Writer

When Kempshott residents heard about the proposed road across Old Down, many wrote to Councillors expressing their opposition.  This, and their attendance at Council Committee meetings, persuaded the Council that there was strong opposition to the proposed road, and Hayley Eachus, a Kempshott councillor and member of the Cabinet, even circulated a handbill expressing support for the preservation of Old Down.  People power works, so when the time is right, write to your councillors and support us.
