Hounsome Fields

We opposed the development of Hounsome Fields on the grounds of sustainability, balance with other developments in the east of the Town, landscape impact and loss of arable land.  The Local Plan Inspector chose to overrule our objections, even though they were in part based on the findings of a previous inspector.

Accepting that the Hounsome Fields development will go ahead, this should at least mean that the threat of a road across Old Down is removed.

  • The planning application for two gypsy and traveller pitches adjacent to Trenchards Lane has been withdrawn.  For the detailed application for Phase 1 of the development for 96 dwellings see Basingstoke Council planning reference 18/02513/RES.

  • SWAG would still wish to see the proposed Primary School and Nursery located further away from the increasingly busy A30 and the Manydown link road to protect children's health and development from pollution and noise.
